A 50 minute drive from Dublin sits Rathkenny – a charming, rural village in County Meath. It’s peaceful countryside setting and historical sites such as The Hill of Tara, Slane Castle and Tankardstown House.

E + G chose to have their spring wedding at Tankardstown House. This 18th century Georgian manor house has 80 acres of parkland, gardens and accommodations on site.

The luck of the Irish was with us on E+G’s wedding day! Pure blue skies and sun (an Ireland rarity) made for the perfect outdoor ceremony.

The groom grew up in Ireland, meeting his bride in Toronto. Having a destination wedding close to his home was the perfect choice for them.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT TANKARDSTOWN HOUSE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER

There are lots of reasons to love this wedding venue, and one of the top is for their grounds! There’s so many options to take photos both inside and outside that you couldn’t ask for more as a photographer! The gardens are well landscaped and the interior is heritage elegance.

Incase of rain, they have a large interior sunroom called The Orangery, where you can still get beautiful natural lighting for ceremony and/or reception.

Located nearby a little town with alternative accommodations so it’s perfect as a location for traveling guests who want to stay on or off property. The town of Slane is also nearby for more amenities and accommodations

HOW WE CONNECTED!

Four years ago I was the photographer for E’s brother’s wedding in Toronto. Also, a year ago I photographed her older sister’s wedding! At her sister’s wedding, she mentioned to me “it’s too bad you don’t do destination weddings as we’re getting married in Ireland!”

But little did she know, I do! So, she booked with me!

It was so special to witness so many of their friends and family (who I had gotten to know from her siblings weddings) fly across the world to support them in their love. It was clear from their speeches just how much their friends understood and cherished who they are as individuals and as a couple.

If you’re planning a destination wedding and looking for a photographer who prioritizes your comfort and vision for the day, while still capturing all the magical moments big and small, I’d love to meet you!
